SquadReady Privacy Policy
SquadReady is built so that we know as little about you as possible. This policy is short because the honest answer to "what do you collect?" is: almost nothing.
What we cannot see — by design
Your squad's data — roster, qualification statuses, tasks, messages, calendar events, packing lists — is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it ever reaches our servers. The encryption key (your "squad key") is generated on your device and shared between squad members in person; it is never transmitted to us, stored by us, or recoverable by us.
What our servers store is ciphertext. We cannot read your roster, your messages, or anything else your squad tracks. Not for support requests, not for legal requests, not at all — we do not possess the key. If you lose your squad key, we cannot recover your data, because we cannot decrypt it either.
What we do collect
- A random squad identifier (a 32-character random string) that links your squad's encrypted data to its subscription status. It contains no information about you or your unit.
- Subscription records: when a Squad Leader subscribes, our payment processor (Stripe) provides us the checkout email address and subscription status, which we store alongside the squad identifier to know which squads are licensed. Payment card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our systems. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
- Trial timestamps: the date a squad's free trial began.
- Standard server logs: our hosting providers (Netlify, Google Firebase) generate short-lived operational logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of running any web service. We do not use them to identify or profile users.
What we deliberately do not collect
No accounts. No names — the app uses callsigns you choose. No unit names — the app has no field for them and actively removes them from legacy data. No phone numbers. No analytics, no advertising trackers, no cookies beyond what the app needs to function, no location data, no device fingerprinting. We do not sell, rent, or share any data with anyone, because we have essentially nothing to sell.
Where data lives
Encrypted squad data is stored on Google Firebase (US data centers). The app itself is served by Netlify. Payments are processed by Stripe. Each processes data as described in their own policies; none of them can decrypt your squad data either.
Your data stays on your device too
The app stores your squad's data locally on each device so it works offline. Deleting the app or clearing site data removes that local copy. To delete your squad's encrypted data from our servers entirely, email hello@dmodops.com with your squad identifier (shown in the app) and we will remove it.
Operational security note
SquadReady is designed for unclassified administrative information only. Do not enter classified information, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), operational details, or personally identifying information. The app's design discourages this, but responsibility for what you type rests with you.
Who this service is for
SquadReady is intended for adults (18+). It is a product of DmodOps LLC, a private company. SquadReady is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official system of the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Army, or any government entity.
Changes
If we change this policy, the effective date above changes and material changes will be noted in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
